Judge Michael Gomez
129th District Court
Michael Gomez is the highly rated judge of the 129th Civil District Court in Harris County, Texas. He is a lifelong resident of Houston and a graduate of Rice University and the University of Houston Law Center, where he served as articles editor for the Houston Law Review.
During his time on the bench, Judge Gomez has disposed of tens of thousands of cases and presided over hundreds of jury and bench trials. Judge Gomez has received the Hispanic Bar Association Judge of the Year award, the Outstanding Public Service Award from the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas Foundation, and the Houston Bar Association’s President’s Award for Outstanding Service for his work with the Harris County Law Library and its work to assist pro-se litigants.
Judge Gomez is also a fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation, Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. Judge Gomez is a frequent continuing legal education speaker addressing topics of importance to the bar and speaks often at public schools regarding the importance of higher education and careers in the legal profession.
Judge Gomez is happily married to Diana Perez Gomez, a partner with Chamberlain Hrdlicka, and the current president of the Houston Bar Association. They have two children, Matthew and Elina, and are members of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
